Introduction

According to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), ISO 9001:2015 was officially published in late September 2015, replacing ISO 9001:2008.

At that time, organisations using ISO 9001:2008 needed to begin studying the changes, updating their quality management systems and transitioning their certification to ISO 9001:2015. Organisations preparing to establish a quality management system were advised to use the 2015 edition from the initial research and project-planning stage.

To support organisations transitioning or establishing a quality management system to ISO 9001:2015, ITVC Global offered the course “Updates, interpretation of requirements and transition guidance for ISO 9001:2015”. The course explored changes in the approach, framework and requirements, helping participants plan and implement a system appropriate to their organisational context, address limitations and improve its effectiveness in their operations.

Course objectives

The course provided participants with information on:

  • The background, purpose and changes to ISO 9001 requirements in the 2015 edition.
  • Interpretation and analysis of ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
  • The approach, content and sequence for transitioning a quality management system to ISO 9001:2015.
  • The announced programme included free ISO 9001:2015 standard materials and guidance on updating and transitioning between editions.
