Goertek Vina Science and Technology Co., Ltd. is one of the Goertek Group’s two companies in Vietnam and a major foreign direct investment project in Bac Ninh Province. Established in January 2019, it began production in June 2019, with workshops A, B, C, D, E, F and G in operation. The company manufactures and processes smartphone components including earphones, microphones, speakers and receivers, primarily for export to GOERTEK INC and NANNING GOERTEK TRADING CO., LTD in China. Since 2020, it has secured supply contracts with AMAZON.COM SERVICES, INC and APPLE INC in the United States. In the domestic market, it also supplies Samsung Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd.

About Goertek Vina

Goertek Vina is a major enterprise contributing to Bac Ninh’s development and providing employment for workers in the province and surrounding areas. To meet customer requirements and protect product quality against electrostatic discharge, it implemented an ESD protection system for production lines handling electrostatic-sensitive devices.

The electrostatic discharge control project under ANSI/ESD S20.20-2014

The company established ESD protected areas (EPAs) to protect sensitive devices. Its ESD control activities included:

Establishing electrostatic protected areas (EPAs).
Dissipating charge and preventing ESD in work areas through grounding of floors, workbenches and employees’ chairs.
Using ESD protective clothing, footwear and caps.
Wearing grounding wrist straps.
Using ionisers to neutralise electrostatic charge on insulating materials.
Grounding transfer trolleys.
Using ESD protective boxes, bags and packaging materials.
Removing unnecessary charge-generating objects from EPAs.
Displaying ESD warning signs.
Applying ESD controls to visitors.
Training all personnel working in EPAs to comply with ESD management rules.
Performing daily ESD checks in EPAs.
Checking wrist and footwear grounding for personnel working in EPAs.
Evaluating the quality of all ESD control materials before approving them for use in EPAs.

The company’s ANSI/ESD S20.20-2014 system was scheduled for certification assessment by Intertek Vietnam in November 2021.

Implementation results

With the efforts of company personnel and guidance from ITVC Global’s ESD consultant, the project was completed on schedule with positive results. ESD management activities were implemented effectively; the original report stated that no ESD-related product quality or safety incidents had been detected during the preceding year.

These results reflected Goertek Vina’s collective efforts to control electrostatic discharge, protect products and strengthen customer confidence.
