What is PSCR, and why do automotive companies need it?

PSCR (Product Safety and Conformity Representative) – hay Product Safety and Conformity Representative, is a mandatory role for companies manufacturing and supplying components and parts in the automotive supply chain, particularly when working with European customers (BMW, Mercedes, Audi, VW, Porsche, etc.).

The PSCR is responsible for ensuring that:

• Products remain safe for users throughout their life cycle.
• Products fully comply with legal requirements, technical standards and customer requirements.
• The organisation can handle incidents and product recalls if they occur.

According to guidance from VDA (Verband der Automobilindustrie – German Association of the Automotive Industry), the PSCR must receive training and certification of competence to represent the organisation in all matters concerning product safety and conformity.

4. Practical cases and application exercises

• Analyse case studies of product incidents in the German automotive supply chain.
• Develop response procedures for product safety issues.
