The greenhouse gas inventory project

Project purpose

As part of its green development strategy and efforts to achieve carbon neutrality, Vinacomin took an initial step towards its commitment by conducting a greenhouse gas inventory. Vinacomin selected ITVC Global, a leading provider of greenhouse gas inventory services in Vietnam, as the contractor for the project.

Project progress

ITVC Global’s greenhouse gas inventory project at Vinacomin focuses on identifying and measuring greenhouse gases, including CO2, methane and nitrous oxide, from the company’s production processes and operations. By collecting and analysing data, ITVC Global provided specific figures for Vinacomin’s greenhouse gas emissions in 2022 and recommended actions to reduce emissions.

To help businesses conduct greenhouse gas inventories in accordance with legal requirements, ITVC Global provides greenhouse gas inventory consulting and guidance on emission quantification and reporting under ISO 14064-1. The activities include:

1. Survey the business and determine inventory objectives and scope.

2. Identify activities that generate emissions; collect the information, documents and records needed for inventory quantification.

3. Quantify emissions.

4. Prepare the base-year greenhouse gas inventory.

5. Report the greenhouse gas inventory.

Project completion schedule

With support from ITVC Global’s greenhouse gas inventory experts, the project was carried out over two months and completed in November 2023. It was verified with good results and high accuracy and reliability.

Project results

In November 2023, the greenhouse gas inventory project at Vinacomin was completed. The inventory report issued by ITVC Global was verified with good results and high accuracy and reliability in both activity data and greenhouse gas emissions, with support from ITVC Global’s greenhouse gas inventory experts.

The report’s combined uncertainty was 6.8%. This was a very good result for the investigation and calculation of greenhouse gas emissions, reflecting the consultants’ knowledge and technical skills and Vinacomin’s active support throughout the project.
